October 2026 Local Coverage Determination (LCD) and Billing and Coding Article Updates

We updated the following Local Coverage Determinations (LCDs) and Billing and Coding Articles for October 2026. The full article on our website details additional information on these updates.

New Policies/Articles – We created no new policies/articles for October 2026.

Open Comments

We will accept comments on these LCDs during the Open Comment period indicated above. Please send all comments to medicarepolicycomments@wpsic.com and include the topic of the LCD in the email subject line. Please include published scientific studies or literature to support any changes to the proposed coverage guidelines. We accept .docx and .pdf file types. For security purposes, do not send encrypted emails, compressed attachments, or web links.

Upcoming Proposed LCD Meetings

WPS will present the proposed LCDs during our upcoming Open Meeting and our Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) Engagement Meeting. 

Proposed LCD Open Meetings are for anyone wishing to provide input about LCDs currently in the development process. Interested parties may present evidence and information during the meetings. Registration is required. Formal presentations (i.e. PowerPoint presentations, etc.) must be submitted at least seven days prior to the meeting. For more information, see our Open Meetings webpage.

CAC Engagement Meetings are for our CAC members to discuss and provide input on proposed LCDs to our CMDs and staff during the comment period. Registration is not required. The general public is invited to observe the Proposed LCD Discussion section in a listen-only capacity. For more information, see our Contractor Advisory Committee (CAC) Meetings webpage.
